Sundaes on Sunday

I have always wanted to have a get together on Sunday and serve sundaes, I just thought it would make for such a fun event. Well since its summer and I actually have some time so I did just that. Last night I had the party, and wasn't sure who was going to actually show up, to my amazement their ended up being 23 people there for sundaes. It was very laid back event with a few games, and just talking and enjoying one another. I hope I can plan something again in the near future. One more thing I can check off my summer to do list :)

Summer Vacay!

School ended just a lil over a week ago, and to be honest I am ready to go back.. Its not that I don't enjoy the thought of having nothing to do for 9 weeks, but the reality of it is that I am bored out of my mind! I have a list of things I want to do this summer but I am in a funk to accomplish any of them. I will eventually get busy but for my first week it has been blah!

The end of the school year went fairly smoothly.. I enjoyed myself at graduation.. I was asked to be on the stage greeting the students before they got their diplomas, I would get their name card hand it to the speaker and remind them to smile and walk across. It was SO rewarding! I loved my kids this year, and I am getting to know so many more kids! I am so looking forward to next year! 3 years at the same school :)

9 years

I can't remember the last time I celebrated Easter with my family. I want to say it has been close to 9 years, well its actually been that long since I have celebrated any holiday other than Christmas. I don't miss the drama that always comes with our family get together's but I do miss my family. As I have talked to my mom and sister 100+ times today I realize that it hurts knowing they are all together celebrating, talking and spending time with each other and then there is me in a far away land all by myself. Its not really all by myself, I have friends to spend time with but its not the same feeling as when you are with your real family.

It hurts when I call them, and they can't talk or they are busy. I know why but I want to also be in on the action I want to know what is going on.

Aw well, I need to get ready to go to church by myself...

Tonight I was at the grocery store, and I had my hand on a 2 liter of diet coke. I was trying to decide if I was going to use my coupon to get it tonite or the next time I go shopping. As my hand is on the 2liter a man comes up to me and starts looking at me.. he mumbles something and then I turn around.. He says "oh my gosh, your real, you are so beautiful I thought you were a display" LOL He stood there for a good 3 minutes just in awe! It made me smile :)

well well well...

its been a little while since I last updated. Although nothing really important has happened since the last time. I have just been busy with work, and a little bit of catering. It feels like these last few weeks of school are going to be super busy, which is good. Hopefully they will fly by. I am really looking forward to summer vacation. I can not wait to just relax and recover :) I really have no plans for the summer. I am not going anywhere, just putting around the house. and I am so excited!

18-22 students are doing a veggie lab.. taxes need to be sent in.. and hopefully I get my federal refund!

25-29 students have garde manger lab, big state assessment, cheer meeting, and PROM!

2-6 huge dinner for 200+ plus a catering gig for a graduation party.

9-13 cheer try outs, party on the patio

16-20 seniors take finals

23-26 rest of students take finals, graduations, LAST DAY OF 2010-2011 school year :)

cheer coach!?

Once again I am going out of my comfort zone a little bit to take on the role of a cheerleading coach! First it was a student council teacher now I am doing a coaching position! I am so excited and nervous all at the same time. I use to really badly want to be a cheerleader when I was in high school, but had no chance. Now I am reliving my dream as a teacher. Of course now I have a task of getting in shape!! I am so EXCITED :)

My Spring Break

My spring break has been so relaxing/productive. I have gotten things done around the inside and the outside of the house. Things that I have been putting of for a long time, and it feels so great! I love that feeling of being productive, and thats how I am feeling as the end of my Friday night. The thing I love about spring break is that it is a little glimpse of what my summer will be like, and I couldn't be happier.

I was talking to my mom this morning and my plan of staying in AZ all summer. She realized that I have never really had a summer off doing nothing until this summer. I graduated high school in June and started school that next week, the only real summer I had off was when I graduated from BYU-I and was getting ready to move to Vegas. It was a stressful summer getting things worked out in Vegas when I was still in NY. Summer after that I moved to AZ, and started teaching almost immediately after, and then this last summer, I went away, was robbed and was trying to move into my now house. This summer will consist of lots of "projects" around the house, as well as taking time for myself. I couldn't be any happier and excited :) Now only 9 more weeks of work :)

Spring break meal plans...

I had some unexpected dinner invites last week, hence the reason you see some repeats from last week.. On wed, a good friend of mine invited me over for a delicious meal.. then on thur, someone offered to pay for my meal at texas roadhouse, thank you websters! and then saturday a friend in mesa meet up with me and we dinner at a delicious pizza shop. it was delish but a little pricey :( So this is what its looking like this week..

weekend plans

This weekend I plan on creating one of these for my mess of necklaces on the bathroom sink.

I will update and show you how my turns out.. I got the idea from here.. Super super cute stuff!

On top of that I would like to accomplish:

-cleaning out my fridge

-organize craft room

-order box springs for spare bedroom

-finish heart wreath

-cupcakes for RS

-binder for RS

-plan menu and get grocery's

boys vs. girls

I can tell a girl from a boy.. Ive never had problems in the past.

Well today I found out that one of my boy students whom I just had a talk with about his name because it was kind of "girly" is actually a girl! WOW, I never in a hundred years would have thought he was a her. I guess you learn something new each day :) Its still crazy to think about it!

school year

I love love love my students this year! I don't know what is different... maybe its that I have more experience or that I just have a better handle on things in the classroom. But I know that this whole school year has been so so much better than any other. Happy teacher=stress free teacher :)

Grateful..

In stake conference today there was a talk about being grateful. As I listened I thought to myself that I need to be more grateful. So a few things.. How about one thing for each day of this month so far...

1-The gospel of Jesus Christ in my life, even though sometimes I take it for granted.
2- My job, and bosses who give me encouragement.
3- My beautiful mom who sticks by me for everything even when I get mad at her :)
4- My students who can always bring a smile to my face.
5- Bountiful Baskets, they provide me with delicious fruits and vegetable every other week.
6- Weekends and the ability to accomplish so much.
7- The beautiful colors of fall.. Even though I don't see a ton of colors in AZ I know the beauty they are bringing to the rest of the world.
8- Tolleson Union School district and giving us a 3 day work week.
9- Seeing my students accomplish things like a tomato consame or mastering french bread.
10- Seeing other culinary programs, and talking to those who teach and gaining knowledge from them.
11- Those who have served and continue to serve our country so I can have all the freedoms other countries don't.
12- Medication to take the pain away from my back that I hurt when working on a dresser.
13- The flash cards, and book my mom purchased for me to pass my test.
14- Today I am especially grateful for the opportunity to think about the things I am grateful for.. I am so grateful for a warm home and for the means to prepare a delicious meal.

I hope others think about the things they are grateful for. Its very easy for us to forget the people and the things that bless our lives.

I have a lack of motivation this evening. I really need to snap out of it, I have way to many things I should be doing! grrr

Sweet Sunday

Its been a wonderful weekend ending with a beautiful Sunday. I am becoming more and more grateful for the weekends. This has been the first weekend that I haven't been super busy with 100 things to do, traveling, or having to take a test. I enjoyed every second of it, and wouldn't do anything different. Yesterday I watched the RS broadcast and was overwhelmed with love for my Savior. Today I attended church with a friends family, they both had to talk so I sat with the kids and held a newborn. I couldn't help but look at him and long for my own children. I know eventually the day will come but I want anything more to have my own family and teach them the gospel. I end this weekend tonite with homemade banana bread and an episode of Extreme Makeover Home Edition, I seriously love that show, I love the impact and change they make in others lives. I hope as I continue to teach that I touch a student or at least make a difference in their life. Its been a great evening to a wonderful weekend.

Fall

I love love love fall, to bad I live in Arizona where it is almost October and still 110 degrees! Although it is warm I am reminded everyday how lucky or blessed I am for an amazing life...I honestly am not sure I could be any happier than I am currently. I will be heading to NY for a few days in just two weeks.. Until then I have lots of work to catch up on and get ahead of. I am happy that I am able to go back when the colors are changing and everything is brisk :)

Cute Diaper Cake

Everyone knows I always like a good deal.. Well I have to go to a baby shower tomorrow, and I wanted to spend very little out of pocket... So I decided with all of the random baby stuff/diapers I get free or very close to free I would attempt to make a diaper cake.. Well I did and I am pretty darn proud of myself.. I did spend more than I would have liked BUT I bought way to much and will have enough to make 2 more for 2 of my students who are expecting! Onward with buying random baby stuff/diapers!

Crazy Times...

The night before I left NY.. my fav people came to pick me up to get some ice cream from king kone, my all time fav! Right before leaving to go I got a very distrubing call from the maintence man at my apartment! My apartment had been robbed!! Talk about a way to ruin an amazing night.. Pretty much they stole :

Yeah that apartment complex was no good.. But the good news is 5 months later I have moved into my beautiful NEW HOUSE!
